Case Study: Heritage Farmstead Museum

There's something about Heritage Farmstead Museum that's hard to put into words. Nestled in the middle of bustling Plano, Texas, the moment you walk through the gates, something shifts. The noise fades. The animals wander. And 135 years of history quietly remind you to breathe.

"It's magical," says Myrle Bongiovanni. "You walk onto the farm, and it's in the middle of a bustling city, but yet it doesn't feel like that… It restores something inside of you."

Built in 1891 on what was originally a 365-acre farmstead, Heritage Farmstead Museum has grown into one of North Texas's most beloved community landmarks, offering everything from Little Farmer Fridays for preschoolers to summer camps, education tours, and their signature holiday event, Lights on the Farm, which draws nearly 30,000 guests in a single month.

But keeping a place this special running smoothly? That takes the right team and the right tools.

From Clickers to Confidence

In the early days, ticketing at Heritage Farmstead looked exactly like you'd imagine: phone-call registrations, handwritten lists, and someone stationed at the front gate with a manual clicker. At Lights on the Farm, with no scanning capabilities, staff were left taking guests at their word that a ticket on a phone hadn't already been used.

"We didn't know if somebody was using that ticket over and over again," recalls Myrle Bongiovanni.

Their next system was an improvement, but not by much. Too many steps for guests to register, slow reporting, and a checkout process that felt anything but effortless.

They needed something better. Something built for the way Heritage Farmstead actually operates.

A Partner, Not Just a Platform

When Heritage Farmstead found Brushfire, what stood out wasn't just the features; it was the relationship.

"It feels like you're in the office with us," says M'Lou Hittinen. "We can seriously just reach over and say, hey, we're struggling with this, can you help us? And the response time is so fast."

With Brushfire, the team gained flexible ticketing across all their programs, effortless online purchasing, mobile check-in, and real-time reporting that actually made sense. On any given night during Lights on the Farm, 1,500 to 2,000 guests flow through the gates. Now, they scan and move on.

Ready for What's Next

The results speak for themselves. With Brushfire handling the ticketing, Heritage Farmstead has been able to focus on what they do best, creating experiences that connect families to history, nature, and each other.

"We do feel like we have the capability to expand our programming and our events," says Myrle, "and that this ticketing system can handle that for us."

Because preserving history is hard enough. The tickets should be the easy part.

Your story could be next. Let's find a time to talk.
