May Updates: Transparent Pricing Rules + New Help Button in Your Pocket

The FTC’s Junk Fee Ban for live event tickets is now in effect, and Brushfire has implemented automatic all-inclusive pricing across its platform. Additionally, a new Help & Support button has been added to the mobile app, while organizers must ensure compliance in all customizable fields and external marketing materials by displaying full, final ticket prices.

FTC Junk Fee Ban Now in Effect

The Federal Trade Commission’s Junk Fee Ban for live event tickets is now officially in effect.

As promised, Brushfire has fully implemented all necessary system changes to help you remain compliant. This update is an important step toward greater pricing transparency for event attendees across the nation.

Automatic Changes Implemented

All standard ticket pricing displays within Brushfire now automatically show the all-inclusive price, with fees incorporated into the prominently displayed total.

The first price your attendees see now includes all mandatory fees, just as the FTC rule requires.

Your Responsibility: Customizable Fields

While the Brushfire system has been updated, you are still responsible for any manually entered pricing information in customizable areas, including:

  • Event descriptions
  • Details pages
  • Confirmation, marketing, and reminder emails
  • Any other custom text fields where pricing is mentioned

If you are not absorbing fees (i.e., you’re passing them to attendees), you must display the full all-inclusive price wherever prices are mentioned.

Saying “ticket price + fees” is not compliant with the FTC’s rule.

Beyond Brushfire: External Marketing Compliance

These regulations also apply to any of your own marketing materials outside of the Brushfire platform. All price mentions must reflect the final, all-inclusive cost.

Make sure to audit:

  • Your organization’s website
  • Social media posts
  • Email newsletters
  • Digital ads
  • Printed flyers or posters
  • Verbal pricing in videos or podcasts

All prices must show the full cost upfront—no surprises at checkout.
